Reflection on the AI Co-Writing Session

Alright, it’s Friday, June 27th, 2024, and just finished an AI co-writing session, and got a lot smoother than what I did earlier this week. Today’s session was a good one. I really started out by getting a solid outline for where I’m going to go, especially when I’m writing with the AI, because it just does better when it knows an end point. Instead of just writing regularly like I did yesterday, where I’m like, okay, I don’t really know where this is going to end, I’m just going to keep writing, and that’s what I did today.

Insights from Stephen King’s “On Writing”

What was interesting about today’s writing session was, during my breaks, I was reading Stephen King’s “On Writing,” particularly the section where he talks about how stories are like fossils. Our job as writers is to unearth these stories in as much detail as possible, but just like any excavation, there’s going to be damage. You’ve got to get the story out of the ground somehow, and you can use any level of tools from a jackhammer to a toothbrush, and he draws this analogy.
